Lt. Governor Mongiardo Congratulates Participants in 10th Annual Posters-at-the-Capitol Event
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 10, 2011) — Lt. Governor Daniel Mongiardo today joined Morehead State University President Wayne Andrews and Council on Postsecondary Education President Robert King in unveiling this year’s Posters-at-the-Capitol projects. Posters-at-the-Capitol is a program that allows undergraduate students to work with faculty mentors on various research projects that can help expand their educational opportunities and benefit the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
More than 100 poster projects are on display all through the Capitol covering everything from inciting social change through music and drinking water to kidney disease and aquatic ecology.
“I had individuals I looked up to or admired when I was going through school, but I didn’t always have an opportunity to work side-by-side with them,” said Lt. Gov. Mongiardo. “These students not only get to work with their mentors, but they also get to present the results of their faculty-mentored research projects to decision makers in Frankfort who may one day fund these projects for the betterment of Kentucky.”
“I am very pleased that members of the General Assembly will have the opportunity to meet and interact with our undergraduate students participating in the 10th annual Posters-at-the-Capitol event,” said MSU President Wayne Andrews. “I offer my sincere thanks to faculty mentors from universities all across the state and congratulate the student scholars for their outstanding research and creative accomplishments.”
The poster projects were done by students at all of Kentucky’s colleges and universities. To read more on the project go to http://issuu.com/jodycofer/docs/posters2011webversionnov22 .
