COMMENCEMENT INFORMATION - AFTERNOON COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY

 

Friday, May 11, 2012
Commencement Rehearsal

5:00 pm Commencement rehearsal for students graduating from the College of Science & Technology and the College of Business & Public Affairs will be held in the Academic Athletic Center.  All degree candidates who plan to participate in Commencement must be present at the rehearsal specified for their college.
 

Saturday, May 12, 2012
Commencement Ceremony

1:00p.m. Formation of the academic procession for students attending the afternoon Commencement ceremony from the College of Science and Technology and the College of Business and Public Affairs.
2:00p.m. Afternoon Commencement Ceremony -- Academic Athletic Center

 Students seeking a degree with a major or area of concentration in the following departments will participate in the afternoon commencement ceremony.

GRADUATION IN ABSENTIA

Degree candidates who will be unable to attend rehearsal and Commencement must apply for graduation in absentia.   Even if you do not plan to paricipate in Commencement, you must submit a degree application.  In addition to the degree application, you must apply in absentia through the Office of the Registrar by completing one of the following steps by May 1:
1 You may stop by the Registrar's office (201 Ginger Hall) to fill out an Absentia form.

  • The statement "Spring 2012 Graduation Absentia" in your subject line 

     

  • Full name and diploma mailing address

     

  • Student ID number or Social Security number

     

  • Indicate the semester you completed or will complete your degree requirements (Spring 2012, Summer I 2012, or Summer II 2012)

CAPS - GOWNS - HOODS

Caps, gowns, and hoods are available at the University Store and may be purchased any time before the day of Commencement. Associate and Bachelor degree cap, gown, and tassel are $30 and are not returnable. The Master and Specialist degree cap, gown, and tassel are $30 and are not returnable. The Master and Specialist degree hoods are $25 and are not returnable.


DIPLOMAS

Diplomas will be printed and mailed to all graduates following commencement after the degree list has been finalized. We anticipate having these diplomas mailed within eight  to ten weeks after Commencement. Your diploma will be mailed to the address indicated on your degree application unless you advise us differently.
