Outstanding Student in Journalism
Candice Tufano
is a senior from Montgomery County with a double major in Journalism and Government. Candice served three semesters as a staff writer for the Trail Blazer and currently serves as Managing Editor for the paper. Candice was awarded a Kentucky Press Association paid summer internship, which she completed during the summer of 2011 working as a reporter and writer for the Frankfort State Journal, a daily newspaper in the state capital. She was the recipient of a Kentucky Intercollegiate Press Association award in news writing, the Commonwealth Bank Academic Scholarship and MSU’s George Burgess Scholarship. Though working nearly full time to finance her college career, Candice will graduate with honors in May and hopes to use her communication skills in a government-related career.

Outstanding Student in Public Relations
Joshua Martin
is from Mt. Sterling, Ky. and will graduate in May with a degree in Communication (Public Relations) and Marketing. To gain first-hand experience in the field, Joshua did an internship at the largest full-service advertising agency in Lexington. He also did public relations, event planning and promotional work for MSUCorps and the Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road Council while at Morehead State. After graduation, Joshua will pursue a career combining public relations, advertising and marketing, preferably at a reputable marketing communications agency.

Theodore Presser Scholar and the A. Frank and Bethel C. Gallaher Memorial Music Performance Competition Award
Tyler Kline
is a talented and active performer, composer, and arranger currently pursuing his undergraduate studies in music at Morehead State University. As a composer, he has scored original works for various solo instruments, instrumental chamber ensembles, and vocal ensemble. He is a member of the MSU Symphony Band, Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble, and Basketball Band. In 2010, he toured and performed as a member of the award-winning Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps out of Canton, Ohio. During the past two years, Mr. Kline has pursued two Undergraduate Research/Creative Fellowships with MSU faculty Mentor, Dr. Deborah Eastwood, exploring various aspects of original musical composition. Mr. Kline’s 2010 composition, in spite of thought and reason, we dream, was named Winner of the 2010-2011 Kentucky Music Educators Association Collegiate Composition Contest. He has also received Morehead State Public Radio’s 2011 Community Advisory Board Student Leadership Award, as well as the Morehead State University Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance 2011 Outstanding Undergraduate Music Student Award. More recently, Mr. Kline was named the Theodore Presser Scholar, and the winner of the 25th A. Frank and Bethel C. Gallaher Memorial Music Performance Competition for the performance of his original work for solo euphonium and piano, For Those That Wander. A junior from Mt. Sterling, Ky., he is the son of Greg and Shanell Kline.

Pinnacle Honor Society
Pinnacle is a nationally recognized honor society for Non-Traditional Students. Pinnacle issues charters to accredited colleges and universities, which in turn, select outstanding adult and other non-traditional seniors and "rising seniors" for recognition at the local and national level. Morehead State University has been a Pinnacle chartered institution since 1991. To be considered for induction into Pinnacle, students must meet criteria that include junior or senior status, 25 years of age or older, possession of a 3.0 or higher cumulative G.P.A., involvement in at least 3 campus or community activities while a student, 17 demonstrated leadership, persistence and future promise, and the maintenance of the highest of ethical standards. Students can only be selected for membership following a thorough screening by a campus selection committee comprised of MSU non-traditional students, faculty, and staff.

* Ezra Dike, who is originally from Syracuse, NY, now resides in Menifee County, KY. Ezra is a senior pursing a Bachelor of Business degree with an Economics option and he plans to complete his BBA in August 2012.

* Margaret Stults, originally from Harlan, resides in Winchester with her husband and daughter, and is a senior pursing a Bachelor of Social Work degree, which she plans to complete in December 2012.

*Angela J. Turner, who has two daughters and resides in Winchester, is a senior pursing a Bachelor of University Studies degree, which she plans to complete in May 2013.
