Minority Teacher Education Program

presents the

Governor's Minority Student Preparation Program

(GMSCPP)

  The Morehead State University (MSU) Minority Teacher Education Program (MTEP) sponsors a summer institution in June which consists of a one-week residential experience at MSU for fifty-five minority high school and middle school students.

  Transportation to and from the MSU campus, meals, classes, and social activities are provided at no expense to the students.  During the week, students are introduced to the University faculty, staff, administrators, and practicing teachers.

  Students participate in English, math, science, computer, and black history classes, as well as tours of the campus and region.  In addition to the classes, students will have time for social activities, including swimming, cookouts, and basketball.

  The MTEP/GMSCPP is sponsored by the Council on Postsecondary Education, Morehead State University, and the Kentucky Department of Education, Division of Minority Educator Recruitment and Retention.

  The MTEP/GMSCPP requires students to:

  • be minority students who attend a Kentucky high school or middle school;
  • have an interest in education as a major;
  • have a high school or middle school GPA of 2.5 or higher.

  Applications are selected on a first-come, first-served basis.
