On April 22, 2009, MSUCorps members attended a groundbreaking ceremony for
Frontier Housing’s first “Green Build Kentucky,” home design at the Community
of Edgewood in Morehead. Dignitaries
were on hand for the event including Rep John Will Stacy and Judge-executive
Jim Nickell.
State representatives boarded the Clean Energy Hybrid Bus (a
hybrid TARC bus on loan from the City of Louisville) and toured seven Kentucky
counties including Rowan. The bus made its last stop at this event at Frontier
Housing’s Edgewood community located on Rice Road.
Of the crowd gathered, Secretary of Finance and Administration
Jonathan Miller stated, “It’s great to see all the young people who are here
today. This is the green generation here. We have groups from the University of
Kentucky, Morehead State University, Rowan County Senior High School and
AmeriCorps is here.”, to which members responded with a
cheer.
Members spoke with Representative Stacy, members of Frontier Housing as well as volunteers from
other organizations on hand for the event and toured several of the
homes.
