MSS Advisory Committee

The purpose of the MSS Advisory Committee is to plan programming that serves the social, emotional, cultural, vocational, and educational needs of minority students on the campus of Morehead State University. 

  • Composition?

The committee is comprised of MSU faculty, staff, and students who are committed to diversity.  

  • What do we do?

We assist in the development of academic, professional, personal, social, and cultural programming.

We assist in programming that positively influences a smooth transition from home to college.

We develop strategies to assist in increasing the retention rate of minority students. 

We serve as hosts at events sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Student Services.

We create programming and plan events that are open to the entire campus community.

We create programming and plan events that raise awareness about diversity and culture.

We assist the MSU campus community as well as the Rowan County community in diversity consciousnesses.

We assist minority students in relating to and meeting the demands and challenges associated with being a well-rounded, successful, academically proficient student.

  • What is the time commitment?

The committee meets on a monthly basis.  All meetings will take place at the Office of Multicultural Student Services.  Meetings are scheduled around classes and generally require a 30-45 minute time commitment. 

  • How do I join?

Interested students should apply.

Committee members are appointed by the Director and Coordinator of Multicultural Student Services and serve one year terms.
