Canadian Studies at
Morehead State University

The MSU International Studies minor in Canadian Studies begins with Perspectives on Canada, an introductory team taught Canadian Studies Online Program course, then focuses on advanced  courses in Canadian history, government, civil liberties, economic, social and cultural policies from comparative and international perspectives, and concludes with a summer internship in the Canadian Parliament.

These Canadian Studies courses are available to MSU students, because Morehead State is a member of the Kentucky Canadian Studies Consortium. Since 2001, the Canadian Government’s Canadian Studies Program Enhancement Grants have facilitated consortium-wide Canadian Studies program development and its institutionalization at MSU as the International Studies Minor Canadian Studies Emphasis.

At MSU, the Canadian Studies Online Program courses are at the core of an IST minor which begins with required onsite IST and French courses, focuses on the introductory and advanced Canadian Studies Internet courses taught by MSU, EKU, and WKU faculty, and concludes with a summer internship. Students interested in a Canadian Studies minor should contact Dr. William Green, the MSU Canadian Studies campus coordinator.
