CANADIAN STUDIES ONLINE PROGRAM

The Canadian Studies Online Program was created in 2001 to promote our understanding our North American neighbor: who they are, what we share in common, and what makes us different in our increasingly interconnected and interdependent world. William Green has written about the origins and development of the Canadian Studies Online Program in his “Creating a Canadian Studies Online Program,” in the Fall 2004 Canadian Studies Update.

COURSES

The Canadian Studies Online Program at Morehead State University courses on Canadian language, geography, literature, and politics.The courses focus exclusively on Canada or study Canada in comparative and international perspective with an emphasis on Canada's relationship with the United States. CANADIAN STUDIES 

AT MOREHEAD STATE UNIVERSITY


MSU students take Canadian Studies Online Program to fulfill the requirements for an undergraduate minor. They also participate in the Canadian Parliamentary Internship Program. This site contains information on these two programs and pictures and a video of MSU students' internship experiences. 


CANADIAN STUDIES IN THE CLASSROOM

Canadian Studies in the Classroom is a Canadian Studies Online Program project designed to promote the teaching of Canada by providinga Unit of Study bank for elementary, middle, and high school Social Studies teachers. At this link are Units of Study designed by K-12 teachers who have taken Canadian Studies Online Program courses as part of their graduate education.


CANADIAN PARLIAMENTARY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The Canadian Parliamentary Internship Program is a five week summer experiencein Ottawa, Canada's capital city. The program involves students in the political life of aMember of Parliament by participating inthework ofan MP’s office, attending House of Commons sessions, committee meetings, and official government functions.


QUEBEC SUMMER STUDY PROGRAM

The Kentucky Institute for International Studies’ Quebec summer program provides a unique opportunity to explore and understand Francophone culture and history. French-language courses in Quebec and Canadian literature, and civilization along with excursions around Quebec City, the program site, and to Montreal will enrich your understanding of the cradle of French culture in North America.

The Canadian resource links include the major sites for the Government of Canada, Canadian Studies, Canadian and Quebec teaching and research grant programs, teaching about Canada, and Canadian news and research information.
