Damages/Warranties/Insurance/Buyout/Terminations

Damaged Computers:

Each MSU computer is covered for accidental damage. The maximum amount payable by the student is $200 per damage incident. Examples of billable damages include: liquid spills on the computer, cracks in screens or laptop cases caused by dropping the computer, excessive scratches on the cases or screens that are not attributed to normal wear and tear, broken parts such as compartments, doors or hinges that were forced open beyond normal limits, etc.

Stolen Computers:

If your computer is stolen you must report the theft to local law enforcement authorities as soon as possible. You should ask them for a copy of the police report and turn in a copy of the police report to the TSC. The deductible $250 insurance amount for the computer will be charged to your account and a replacement computer will be provided for you when the report has been submitted to the Technology Service Center.

Computer Repairs:

All repair issues should be referred to IT - Customer Services at 108 Lloyd Cassity. If the repair is covered by the warranty, the student will not be charged. Students may not have their computer repaired outside of MSU.
