Submission Details/Guidelines
By submitting an entry to Inscape, you are granting Morehead State University permission to publish your work in the journal, on our website, and in Inscape and/or Department of Art / Department of English promotional or publicity materials. Furthermore, it is understood you will not receive any financial compensation for the use of said work in any of the aforementioned scenarios.
Cover Design Contest
open to all MSU students
up to three (3) entries per person
image trim size should be 11.375" in width by 8.5" inches in height (design should address front and back of publication) with an additional .5" bleed
- spine: 0.34" width (design should include year and name of publication)
also allow at least .5 inch bleed around design
image resolution should be at least 600 dpi.
design may use any number of colors plus black. To acquire the Inscape logo, please e-mail t.hobbs@moreheadstate.edu.
designs created in a vector-based program (Adobe Illustrator) must outline all fonts before saving files
acceptable file formats: .jpg, .ai, .eps, .psd, .tif, .pdf
all entries should be submitted on one CD-ROM (Mac compatible)
The following information must be included on CD-ROM or its case:

mailing address
phone number
e-mail address

The selected design will be revealed and its designer announced at the Inscape Fine Arts Showcase reception on Thursday, May 2, 2013. at 6:30 p.m. in the main gallery of the Claypool-Young Art Building.
Deadline for submissions: Entries must be submitted by Dec. 7, 2012. Deliver to 211 Claypool-Young Art Building. The office is open from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Art for the interior of publication:
open to all MSU students
all submissions must have been completed while attending MSU
prizes given to the top four pieces:
1st place: $100
2nd place: $75
3rd place: $50
up to three (3) entries can be submitted
An artwork which already has received a prize award in a previous Art & Design Department sponsored competition will not be eligible for Inscape prizes.
work must be unframed (mattes acceptable)
While all work will be handled with care, MSU is not responsibile for work being damaged. Please take proper precautions in protecting your work prior to its submission (for example, cover the front with paper).
- Entries must be:
- 2-dimensional: at least 3 inches x 5 inches and no larger than 24 inches x 36 inches
- 3-dimensional: submit a high resolution photograph of the work as the actual entry.
- digital submissions: must be at least 300 dpi and 6" minimum on its largest side (if the file is under 300 dpi then the image must be at least 12" minimum on its largest side. Acceptable file formats include .jpg, .tif, .pdf and .psd) Please note that cell phone images are NOT high resolution and will not be considered if submitted. Please burn to Mac-compatible CD.
- color or black and white; since the artwork for the interior of the publication will be published in black and white, all color entries must attach a black and white hardcopy printout of their color piece to assist the juror in their selection. Color entries without the required black and white printout may be disqualified by the juror.
The selected works will not be returned until after the Inscape Fine Arts Showcase reception (Thursday, May 2, 2013.)
Selected works and prizes will be announced at the Fine Arts Showcase reception.
Work not picked up before June 2013 will be discarded.

Writing for interior of publication
- Open submission and publication potential for students and non-students; Contest open for MSU students only
Prizes:
- A $50 prize will be awarded to one MSU student in each genre, although general submissions are open to anyone.

include cover letter with author's name, brief bio, return address, titles and identification of pieces as poetry, fiction, non-fiction or drama
No names or identifying material should appear in or on the submissions.
Submissions without a cover letter and complete information will NOT be accepted
