As Dean of the Caudill College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, I wish to personally welcome you to the academic home to studies in the School of the Arts and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Each school, and the departments within, offers substantial educational programming delivered by an outstanding faculty that is committed to helping students to thrive and succeed. As you explore our department websites you will discover why Morehead State is a first choice for excellent students from Kentucky, the surrounding multi-state region, the nation and the globe.

The School of the Arts, which includes the departments of Art & Design; Communication, Media & Leadership Studies; and Music, Theatre & Dance, hosts distinguished programs in the visual and performing arts, as well as programs that embrace contemporary practices in communications and the new and integrated medias. The School of Humanities and Social Sciences, which includes the departments of English; History, Philosophy, Religion & Legal Studies; International & Interdisciplinary Studies; Military Science (ROTC); and, Sociology, Social Work & Criminology, hosts the academic programs that represent the core of the liberal arts and that explore cultural and gender studies of a regional and global scope. Additionally, the Art, English, French, Music, Social Studies, Spanish and Theatre programs partner with the College of Education to offer programs for those individuals who plan to teach in the P-12 schools.

Our students are the benefactors of in-depth educational experiences, including study abroad experiences and extensive opportunities to engage with faculty in scholarly research, creative productions and service projects. Qualified students are selected each year to participate in MSU’s Honors, Undergraduate Research Fellows and Graduate Assistantship programs. Excellence in scholarship and creative works is showcased at the MSU Celebration of Student Scholarship and through the presentation of hundreds of concerts and recitals, exhibits, productions, readings, film studies, lectures, workshops, seminars and conferences. In all, our programs are aimed at helping students to succeed in the diverse global world in which we live.

For detailed information on the opportunities within the Caudill College, I invite you to take a virtual tour of our academic departments, programs and events. You can start your journey by linking online to our departments and programs. To get an insider’s view, I encourage you to spend a day visiting with us.
