Video Multi-Media Consultant IV (Information Technology)


Job Summary

The Video Systems Consultant IV works in a team environment providing support for the University’s digital video distribution (CATV), video surveillance,  classroom multi-media, and RF based systems.  Consults with faculty, staff, and administrators in a problem-solving manner to analyze, recommend, and implement solutions for addressing video distribution, surveillance, multi-media and radio frequency communication needs. The Video Systems Consultant IV serves as technical lead for CATV design, implementation, and support; and as technical lead for radio frequency consulting and support.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential

  • Serves as technical lead to plan, implement, and support CATV system.
  • Assists with development of campus multi-media project proposals and estimates.
  • Provides consultancy services, design, implementation, and support for campus video surveillance systems.
  • Evaluates, recommends, assembles, tests, installs, and maintains RF systems. Serves as technical lead for radio frequency communication systems.
  • Monitors video systems operations and usage in order to provide quality assurance.
  • Provides assistance with installation of multi-media systems.

Other

  • Assists with the IT Asset Management function.
  • Installs and maintains building communications wiring.
  • Performs other job-related duties assigned by supervisor.

Organizational Relationships

The Video/Multi-Media Consultant IV reports to the Assistant Director of Multi-media & Video Services and works closely with the other OIT staff positions. Position maintains daily contact with faculty, staff and administrators requesting digital video, and radio frequency communication problems.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a technology related field and six (6) years of related experience, or an Associates degree in a technology related field and ten (10) years of related experience (or equivalent technical school training) .  Advanced knowledge of CATV and radio frequency communication technologies.  Knowledge of  multi-media and/or video surveillance systems. Excellent written, verbal and communications skills essential. Ability to work in a team environment to meet deadlines.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

Related professional certifications. Experience in a higher education environment desirable.  Experience with satellite communications and/or compressed video technologies highly desirable.

Working Conditions and Atmosphere

The Video Multi-Media Consultant IV is stationed in the Office of Information Technology. Standard office environment is maintained. Additional hours and travel may be required.
