Eligibility Requirements and Information Regarding Apartment Housing Options

To be eligible for apartment housing, students must have a minimum of 48 MSU recognized credit hours with a minimum 2.5 GPA. All residents living in an apartment must be of the same gender.  Apartments will be billed on a per-person-per-semester basis at the beginning of each term.  Residents may remain in the apartment during break periods and between semesters (if they are pre-registered for classes for the next semester, continue to meet eligibility requirements, and are intending to return to the same housing assignment for the next term). Students who graduate or are not returning to campus housing for the next term will be required to check-out no later than the standard semester closing date. Fall semester residents who are returning to the same accommodations for the spring semester (that are pre-registered – see above) may stay over the winter break period at no additional charge (students not returning to the same accommodations for the spring semester who do not check out by the close of the fall semester will be assessed interim housing fees for all days they have access beyond that date). Summer residency will be billed at an additional charge. 

Priority consideration will be given to students based on GPA, number of earned credit hours, and need.  Students will be assigned to specific apartment buildings/units based on request and availability. Apartment housing is designed  to be a  less structured, more independent living option for students – individuals who have been involved in policy violations deemed to be significant, may be declined eligibility at the discretion of the Office of Student Housing.

Please note: Fall residents that do not plan on residing in apartment housing for the Spring semester are required to checkout no later than the standard fall closing date for residence halls. Fall residents who maintain access for the winter break but do not reside in apartment housing for the spring semester will be charged at standard interim housing rates for the break period. Brief Descriptions of Apartment Housing Options

Eagle Lake Apartments: ELA contains 28 apartments in a mixture of one and two bedroom units. ELA apartments are fully furnished and feature numerous amenities. All ELA apartments contain a full kitchen furnished with refrigerator, stove, garbage disposal, dishwasher, and spacious cabinets. In addition to each unit having its own private balcony, all units feature individual apartment controlled central heating/air conditioning, and are carpeted throughout the living room, bedroom(s), and hallway (the private bathroom is connected off of the apartment’s internal hallway). ELA also features ample storage space with multiple closets. Each apartment features two sets of cable, data, and phone jacks in the living room and each bedroom. The building also has a large laundry room on the first floor with 6 washers and 6 dryers, and a large common multi-purpose room located on the opposite wing of the first floor. ELA does have an elevator.

Mays Hall Apartments: The building contains 47 individual apartments featuring studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom furnished apartment units. Units feature a small kitchenette with refrigerator, two-burner cook-top, and microwave. The building has a heating/air system with individual fan controls in each apartment. Laundry rooms are available in the central area of each floor. Please note, all apartments have their own bathroom with some but not all two-bedroom apartments featuring two bathrooms. Mays Hall does have an elevator.

Normal Hall Apartments: This facility features 40 one-bedroom apartments. The kitchen is furnished with refrigerator and gas stove.  The apartments are set-up with a front living room/kitchen area, a hallway/study area, and rear bedroom area (the private bathroom is connected to the rear bedroom). The building features radiant style heat with air conditioning provided by a rear bedroom window unit. The building also features small laundry rooms located on each end of every floor. Normal Hall does not have an elevator.
