Faculty Senate Minutes

 

August 27, 2009

 

 

Call to Order:

 

 

Call to order: 4:15 pm; Riggle Room; ADUC.

 

 

Senators Absent:  Ali Ahmadi, Vincent Cesaro, Barbara Lyons

 

 

Reports:

 

 

Provost’s Report:  President Andrews and Charles Holloway, Chief Diversity Officer, met with the Committee on Equal Opportunity and the University was granted a qualitative waiver for this year.

 

 

The Provost answered questions from the members.

 

 

Regent’s Report:  September 17^th will be a work session for the BOR.  The regular quarterly meeting will be on September 30^th. 

 

 

Announcements:  The Executive Council will meet Friday, September 28^th at 3 pm.  Quality Enhancement Program Sessions will be held in the Crager Room on September 1^st and 2^nd at 3 pm.

 

 

Chair’s Report:  Chair Berglee gave the following charge to each Senate committee:

 

 

            Evaluation of the committee

 

            Is the committee structured adequately?

 

            Are the responsibilities appropriate?

 

            How can the committee be more effective?

 

 

The members divided into their respective committees for their first meeting.  Each committee elected a Vice Chair.  Chair Berglee discussed the items to be addressed during the year with each committee.
