Meeting Minutes

November 21, 2002

Call to order: 

4:16 pm; 111 Rader Hall.

Senators Absent: 

Darin DeMoss, Dale Dickson, David Eisenhour, Robert Gruninger, Teresa Hardman, Mary Just, Thomas Kiffmeyer, and Edna Schack.

Minutes: 

Minutes of November 7, 2002 passed as distributed.

Senate Actions:

Governance Committee:

The following committee nominations was approved: Research and Creative Production Committee - Edith Lombardo to replace Rebecca Katz.

Professional Policies: 

PG-1: Regular and Nonregular University Employment was presented for a second reading.  Senator Lewis made the following friendly amendment: ‘line 19 strike more than and add after or more after nine.’ Accepted.  Senator Rogers made the following friendly amendment: ‘on line 15 add back the strike out in paragraph two and add without expectations to continuance.’  Accepted.  Senator Lewis withdrew her friendly amendment.  Senator Caric moved to send PG-1 back to committee.  Seconded and passed.

PG-3: Types of Appointments was presented for a second reading.  Senator Rogers moved to send PG-3 back to committee and that it be brought back at the same time PG-1 return.  Seconded and passed.

Old Business:

IDEA waiver was presented for a second reading.  Motion failed.  Senator Buck moved that Academic Policies consider or reevaluate the use of IDEA.

Parking Request motion presented for a second reading.  Senator McCoy made the following friendly amendment: ‘replace Faculty Senate strongly urge with University require’.  Not accepted.  Senator Irons made the following friendly amendment: ‘after urge add the University requires’.  Accepted.  Senator Cain made the following friendly amendment: ‘add be immediately removed when it has been determined by computer that they are not a faculty or staff members car’.  Not accepted.  Senator Buck made the following friendly amendment: ‘or vehicle not properly registered with faculty and staff be immediately removed’.  Accepted.  Senator Rogers made the following friendly amendment: ‘strike everything below the three Whereas are replace with - be it resolved that public safety immediately begin consistent and appropriate enforcement of existing parking regulations.’ Friendly amendment accepted.  Senator Buck moved to send this matter back to the Fiscal Affairs Committee for further consideration.  Seconded.  Senator Buck moved to change from Fiscal Affairs to and ad hoc committee appointed by the Executive Council.  Seconded and passed.
