Digital Movie Making for Innovative, Real World Learning

Attention high school students and teachers, It's Space Movie Making time again!!!

The MSU College of Education, collaborating with the faculty of the College of Science, Space Science Center, and the Kentucky Dataseam Initiative is once again facilitating a one-day workshop, online learning community and on-going in-school support for up to 10 teachers and 40 students from 10 counties in Eastern Kentucky. Through the use of cutting edge technology, in both desktop movie making and state-of-the-art space research tools, teachers and students will be given an opportunity to work with Science Education professors, Space Science engineers, and educational technology specialists to teach their students to research and record digital documentaries that they will show on the “larger than life” ceiling of  The Digital Star Theatre, a 100-seat, multi-function, state-of-the-art, digital classroom.

Schools can send up to two teams consisting of 2 males and 2 females per team and one chaperone to  be given an opportunity to research and record digital documentaries. Each student and teacher will receive a jump-drive bracelet and meals.

Students are encouraged to express themselves creatively, by producing documentaries that show in-depth research and scientific knowledge.  All videos will be compiled and published as Podcasts.
