The Division of University Relations is responsible for Morehead State University’s institutional marketing and communications efforts. Our mission is to gain and maintain public understanding and support of the University. Utilizing publications, news releases, video productions, advertising and the World Wide Web, Communications and Marketing staff work diligently to deliver the MSU message accurately, consistently and effectively to those inside and outside the institution. On a person-to-person basis, we work to develop and strengthen positive relationships with community and regional organizations and with legislators and governmental leaders at all levels.

We also are responsible for cultural, educational and economic development outreach through the Kentucky Folk Art Center and the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music. A significant byproduct of those two units is the economic impact of cultural heritage tourism. We work closely with the Morehead Tourism Commission and other organizations to bring visitors to the Morehead area for music, art and related events. We partner with the College of Education and the Caudill College of Humanities to supplement art and music education at K-12 schools in our service region, including traveling exhibits.

We provide the highest quality radio programming to the eastern third of Kentucky through Morehead State Public Radio, a network of three FM transmitters reaching from the Bluegrass to the mountains on a 24-hour basis. We also provide valuable learning experiences to more than 20 students each semester, many of whom you will hear on the air.  MSPR pioneered public radio in East Kentucky, starting in 1965.

The Vice President for University Relations also serves as Protocol Officer with responsibility for planning, coordination, execution or supervision of the proper conduct of ceremonies, display of flags and procedures for handling distinguished visitors.
