Developmental English Course Descriptions
The courses in the developmental studies curriculum do not count as credit toward graduation. A student should not expect other institutions to accept this course for transfer credit.
ENG 090 – Developmental Writing:
The Developmental Writing course is a placement composition course that reviews basic grammar, punctuation, and mechanics and emphasizes writing/revising for clarity and correctness. ENG 090 does not satisfy the general education requirement for written composition. ENG 090 does not count as hours toward degree.
ENG 099 – Basic Writing:
The Basic Writing course is designed to provide students with an intensive opportunity to develop entry-level writing skills of critical importance in ENG 100—specifically, a basic ability to read, write, and reason analytically as well as to incorporate and document basic research into one’s own writing. ENG 099 does not satisfy the general education requirement for written composition. ENG 099 does not count as hours toward degree.
