Which Developmental English Course Do I Take?

Students are placed into one of two developmental English classes based upon both their ACT English score and the outcome of the COMPASS exam.

If students’ ACT English scores are between 14 and 17 or COMPASS scores fall between 6 and 8 or students have successfully completed Eng 090 with a C or better, students should enroll in the following course:

• Eng 099 – Basic Writing

If students’ ACT English scores are 13 or below or COMPASS scores falls between 0-5, students should enroll in the following course.

• Eng 090 – Developmental Writing
