Reading Placement Test

Incoming students at Morehead State who have an ACT subtest score in reading of less than 20 are required to take the COMPASS Reading placement test.

Many college-level courses are very reading intensive. The COMPASS reading test for reading is a multiple-choice test that can help identify the reading skills students need to succeed in college-level courses.

There are five types of reading comprehension passages which are included on the COMPASS Reading exam:

  • Practical Reading
  • Prose Fiction
  • Humanities
  • Social Sciences
  • Natural Sciences

Morehead State University does not charge a fee for incoming students to take the COMPASS Reading placement test. The COMPASS Reading test is computer delivered and is 60 minutes.

More information about the COMPASS Reading test can be found the ACT website at www.act.org/compass/tests/reading.html.
