A native of South Korea, Eunbyol Ko maintains an active international performing career as a soloist, chamber musician, and concerto soloist. She has performed in Canada, Brazil, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Italy, the Czech Republic, South Korea, and throughout the United States, and has appeared with orchestras including the Kyungwon Philharmonic Orchestra, the Queen City Chamber Orchestra, and the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra. Her performances have been televised and broadcast nationally on MBC in Korea as well as Waterloo’s CKMS in Canada.

Praised for her artistry and intelligence, Ko’s competition honors include first prizes in the South Korea National Piano Competition, the Eum-Yeon competition, and the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music’s (CCM) Chamber Music Competition. She was also a prize winner in the International Yellow Springs Chamber Music Competition, the Kankakee Young Artists Concerto Competition, the Ibla Grand Prize Competition, and the American Protégé International Piano Competition.

Ko has worked with notable groups and musicians throughout her career, including Leon Fleisher, Claude Frank, Awadagin Pratt, Julian Martin, Midori, the Tokyo String Quartet, and the Juilliard String Quartet. As a collaborator, she has performed with members of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Lexington Philharmonic, Seoul Philharmonic, Dayton Philharmonic, Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and the China National Symphony Orchestra. She has also served as a chamber music coach and accompanist for the Starling String Project and has been an official accompanist for the Young-Pyong International Clarinet Festival in South Korea, the Henri Marteau International Violin Competition in Germany, and the Mozarteum International Summer Academy in Salzburg, Austria.

Ko joined the faculty of Morehead State University in 2010 and currently teaches courses in applied piano, class piano, piano literature, piano pedagogy, accompanying, and chamber music. Her students have won numerous notable awards and competitions over the years, including prizes in the Dayton Philharmonic Young Artists Competition, the New Horizons Piano Competition, the BGSU David D. Dubois Piano Competition, and numerous MTNA State and Regional Competitions.

Ko also maintains an active professional profile, serving regularly as a judge and adjudicator for notable events, giving masterclasses throughout the Unites States and abroad, and offering presentations on a variety of pedagogical topics at professional conferences each year. She is currently President of the Morehead Area Music Teachers Association and an active member of the Kentucky Music Teachers Association.

Prior to joining the faculty at Morehead State University, Ko was an instructor for the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Piano Department and Director of Collaborative Piano at Austin Peay State University. She earned her Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Piano Performance and a Cognate in Chamber Music from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and her Masters degree in Piano Performance from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Her former teachers include Soo-Jung Shin, Shigeo Neriki, Eugene Pridonoff, and James Tocco.
