Mark Deaton, Exercise Science assistant professor appointed by the Department of Health, Wellness & Human Performance History:
The Exercise Science Club (EESC) is a student organization instated/established in 2009 by undergraduates who plan on pursuing careers in Exercise Science related fields. The goal of the club is to provide resources and opportunities that introduce students to human sciences and professional organizations. In addition, the club seeks to help its members become the most qualified applicants for careers, graduate, and medical programs; Encourage community involvement and to present members with opportunities to serve by volunteering within the community.

The EESC has had the honor to raise over $6000 for ALS in the Spring of 2010. We assisted in the creation of “Brad’s 5K Run” that was a great community event and fun to organize.

Also in 2010, club members attended:
the ACSM’s South East conference,
NSCA webinars,
SD-AAHPERD Convention,
Kentucky Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance Convention,
the Arnold’s Classic in Columbus, OH.,
MSU’s celebration of student scholarship, and
Demonstrated Fitness and Flexibility techniques to seniors within the local community.

Meet once per calendar month throughout the academic year (Sept., Oct. Nov., Feb., March, April). Meetings will be held in Room 213 of the Laughlin Health Bldg the third Thursday of each month at 6:30pm. Members must attend 4 (50%) of the meetings/events per academic year to remain active.
