Dr. Wilson J. González-Espada, originally from Caguas, Puerto Rico, is an associate professor of physics and science education at Morehead State University. In 2001, under the mentorship of Dr. J. Steve Oliver, González-Espada finished his doctoral degree at the University of Georgia, where he studied the contextual and culturally relevant teaching of physics in Puerto Rico. His teaching experience includes two years as a high school physics and math teacher, and 16 years teaching physics, physical science and science methods classes at the postsecondary level. His scholarly interests include science teaching and learning, physics education research and science outreach. González-Espada volunteers as a science communication officer for Ciencia Puerto Rico, an international non-profit organization aimed at promoting the STEM disciplines among Latinos.
