As a Morehead State University (MSU) student, you can participate in many regional engagement opportunities in our 22 county service region. MSU has identified four regional need areas – community building, economic/entrepreneurial development, education, and health and wellness. The opportunities to contribute your time, talent, and treasure are limitless.

Employers and graduate schools will be looking for students who have co- and extra-curricular experiences prior to graduation. Through the regional engagement opportunities – volunteering, service-learning, and regional engagement capstone projects – you can strengthen and deepen your learning experience. Below are several resources to help you document these experiences.

Volunteer Opportunities

The Volunteer Center at the Center for Regional Engagement strives to identify volunteer opportunities throughout our 22 county service region and post them on our MSU CaREs Volunteer Hub site for our students, faculty, and staff to review. You can sign up for a FREE Volunteer Hub account and start giving back in ways that meet your personal and academic needs. For more information about MSU CaREs, please contact Melisa Patrick, Community Service Coordinator by phone at 606.783.9327 or by email at

Hourly Service Log

The Hourly Service Log helps you and MSU track what you are doing related to your service experiences. Please regularly submit your service experience throughout your time at MSU so that the Center can provide you with a co-curricular transcript at your convenience. For more information about the Hourly Service Log, please contact the Center at 606.783.9327 or by email at

Folio 180

Folio180 is a student electronic portfolio system in which students can archive their academic, professional and personal accomplishments while attending MSU. For more information about Folio180, please contact the Center at 606.783.9327 or by email at

Student Fellowship

The Center wants to support those undergraduate juniors and seniors who need to complete a capstone course (i.e. field experience, practicum, internship, coop, etc.) for graduation. Regional Engagement Student Fellowships range from $500-$2,500 a year ($250-$1,250 a semester), and can be awarded for up to four semesters. The Regional Engagement Student Fellows applicants will be reviewed and recommendations will be sent to the Executive Director, Center for Regional Engagement who will make final determinations about award recipients, amounts, and renewals. For more information about Student Fellowships, please contact Louise Cooper, Service-Learning Coordinator by phone at 606.783.9327 or by email at
