Application Procedure

To be eligible for this scholarship you must submit a completed application packet, including admission application form, transcripts and test scores, by the March 15 priority application deadline.

Students are automatically considered for this scholarship based on the information submitted as part of their completed admission application packet when received by the March 15, priority application deadline. There is no separate application to complete to be considered for this scholarship.

Please ensure the MSU alumnus is active with the Alumni Association prior to the March 15 priority application deadline for timely consideration.


Be admitted to MSU for the 2017-18 academic year as an entering freshman or as a transfer student and meet all of the following requirements:

1. Have at least one parent or grandparent or the student’s spouse be an MSU alumnus and an active member of the MSU Alumni Association. Active member is defined as someone who makes annual gifts to the MSU Foundation, Inc.; and

2. Achieve a minimum 18 ACT composite score (870 SAT composite verbal + math) and an admission index of at least 500 

3. Transfer students must have at least a 3.00 cumulative college GPA and a minimum of 24 hours of non-developmental college-level credit.

“New incoming freshmen” include students transferring that have completed fewer than 24 hours of college credit. “Transfer students” refer to those who have completed 24+ hours of college credit at another institution. College credit hours completed prior to high school graduation, including Early College Program courses, do not affect scholarship eligibility.

Additional Information

This scholarship may be awarded in addition to another academic achievement scholarship.

Recipients receive $1,000 ($500 per semester) for fall and spring semesters of enrollment. Students receiving outside scholarships, including KEES funds, and financial aid may not receive more aid than total cost of attendance.

Criteria for renewal: Achieve a minimum cumulative 3.00 MSU GPA; maintain continuous full-time enrollment (at least 15 hours) with MSU; and satisfy the University’s housing policy.
