The Kentucky Department for Public Health is actively preparing for the threat posed by the Zika virus, a mosquito-borne virus that can be transmitted to humans.   The greatest risk for Kentuckians to contract the Zika virus, at present, is by traveling to a country where the Zika virus is endemic in the local mosquito population or by having unprotected sex with someone who has traveled.

Mumps is a contagious disease caused by a virus. It spreads through saliva or mucus from the mouth, nose, or throat by:

•Coughing, sneezing, or talking,
•Sharing items, such as cups or eating utensils, with others, and
•Touching objects or surfaces with unwashed hands that are then touched by others.
Symptoms of mumps include:
Fever, headache, muscle aches, tiredness, loss of appetite, swollen and tender salivary glands under the ears on one or both sides (parotitis)

Contact your healthcare provider or MSU Counseling and Health Services if you think you have mumps.

The best way to prevent mumps is to be immunized with 2 doses of MMR vaccine that are separated by 28 days. Contact C&HS if you have not received your vaccine.

Policies have been implemented regarding  insurance & billing and CHS will now bill your insurance. In doing this, we are able to provide more primary care for our students.

Office visits will now be submitted to your insurance. The clinic works to provide medical services to students at little to no cost, but students will be solely responsible, however, for any prescription co-pays. The clinic staff works to prescribe any necessary medications of the highest and most effective quality, but of the lowest possible price. If pricing concerns occur, we will do our best to work with the student in prescribing new therapy in a reachable price range. All students will be seen, regardless of ability to pay. Please call the clinic at 783-2055 if you have further questions or to make appointments.

 What you need to bring:

  • Copy of your insurance card
  • Cardholder's name and address, date of birth and last four digits of social security number (for example, if your mother's name is on the card, we will need her birthday and the last four digits of her social security number
