2012 to 2062
MSU's 175th Anniversary Time Capsule
 |
The Student Government Association, in conjunction with Student Activities, Inclusion and Leadership Development is assembling materials for a 50-year time capsule, to be opened in 2062. All items mentioned below are needed by OCTOBER 31.
Messages to the future
Members of the campus community are invited to write letters to the future that either make predictions as to what Morehead and Morehead State might look like in 2062, or reflect on the state of affairs in 2012 (providing the future a snap shot of what life is like today). When considering what to write, think about what information from someone 1962 you might like to read. What predictions would they have made about 2012?
Email your missives to Mike Esposito, m.esposito@moreheadstate.edu and they will be printed on acid free paper, which will last over the 50 years. Faculty and staff can print their own message on MSU stationery (which is acid free) and send it to UPO 797. All messages should be kept to one page.

SGA questionnaire
SGA has a questionnaire, for students, to tell their grand children what their favorite things were in 2012. Students, click here to complete the survey.
What to include
If someone is interested in providing a new, unused MSU shirt (100 percent cotton), small MSU “artifact” or other curious item for the capsule, drop them off at Student Activities, ADUC 204.
Rare or limited edition items you are willing to part with, from 2012, are another great thing to include (i.e. baseball card, rare coin/currency). Space in the capsule is limited, so not all items may be used. Unused items will be returned to you.
Photographs should be professionally processed black-and-white prints on fiber-based paper suitable for archiving. Do not laminate or dry-mount photographs.
What not to include
- Electronic media is problematic in that finding a machine to play a CD or DVD in 2062 might be tough (try finding an 8-track tape player today).
- perishable items
- anything with ink inside
- batteries or anything with batteries inside
- anything made with wool, silk and nylon fabrics
- ammunition
- tapes or adhesives
- nothing stapled or paper clipped
SGA and SAIL hope the campus community will enjoy participating in this program.
