Cashiering Information
Morehead State University offers a check cashing service to faculty, staff and currently enrolled students. This service should in no way be misinterpreted as the University offering banking services. Due to the possible liabilities to the University, the following guidelines are required for cashing checks:
The student must be a currently enrolled student, and provide a valid student I.D. All checks must have the student's current address, phone number, and student I.D. number listed on it.
Students may cash only 1 personal check with up to a $50 maximum limit per day.
Two-party checks* are only cashed for students if they are from an immediate family member (i.e. parents, grandparents, aunts or uncles, etc. . .)
Morehead State University issued payroll checks and/or residual checks are cashed for students with valid student I.D. and if the money is available.
Credit card company issued checks are not accepted.
Checks that are not electronically encoded from the student's bank are not accepted.
The University reserves the right to deny check cashing privileges based on prior check cashing and payment history.
Any unpaid, returned checks are subject to being turned over to the Kentucky Department of Revenue for collection. If this occurs, you will incur collection costs.
* Two-party checks are checks made payable to anyone other than Morehead State University
